With the ever growing popularity of MP3's, the industry has seen a new breed of DJ. Forget the traditional bulky cd or vinyl cases; now all your tracks can be stored and played back on a computer.

Whatever your views on PC DJ'ing, it's here to stay, and MP3DJ pro is just one of the many products available for the job. Requiring at minimum a Pentium 1 processor and a modest 64MB of RAM, this software will run on practically any machine. If you're considering the switch to PC DJ'ing, you might even have an old PC sitting in your garage that you could use with this software!

Features:

- Simple user interface

- Adjustable track cut and mix times

- Support for multiple sound cards

- Multiple instances of program can run at the same time using different sound cards

- Drag and drop files from windows explorer window

- Automatic scanning for MP3 files on any connected drives

At a mere £16.25, this software comes in just a little cheaper than PCDJ silver. Just as the MP3DJ web site claims, this software is indeed very easy to use, and does exactly as it says on the tin. Let's take a look at MP3DJ compared to some of the other products on the market:

Although competitively priced, MP3DJ is not exactly feature rich. However, the software is intended to be very simple to use, and I can't fault it in that area. I'd at least like to see a manual mix feature in this software before even attempting to use it at a professional level, and track normalisation and improved auto mixing wouldn't go amiss. The track cut feature to remove 'dead' sections from the end of each track is useful, although something based on the actual volume of the track might be better.

So, the final verdict:

Ease of use: 9/10

Features: 4/10

Cost: 8/10
