Trace Lighting Launch LimeLIGHTTrace Lighting are pleased to announce the much awaited release of their new lighting software, LimeLIGHT, at PLASA10. LimeLIGHT offers the power of a high-end lighting console in a format that can be slipped in the front of a laptop bag and carried in hand-luggage.

With power and ease of use as central themes of it's design, LimeLIGHT aims to create a solution that is quick to learn whilst offering a feature set in line with that of a conventional large format console. Simple features such as colour matching across different makes and models of fixtures, make programming large numbers of intelligent fixtures far quicker than before.

Designed with survival on the road in mind, the DX2 DMX output unit is housed in a sturdy metal case and fitted with two Neutrik XLR connectors giving two independant DMX universes. The unit will survive all a tour can throw at it. For further protection and storage, the DX2 is supplied along with it's USB lead and the software CD in a tough plastic carry case.

Key features of the software, which received a great deal of positive feedback during it's beta testing include:

  • An auto chase wizard that will create a chase very quickly with a variety of patterns and parameters.  This can be particularly useful with large groups of LED fixtures that would otherwise be slow or inflexible to program.
  • Move whilst dark - For theatre-style events, this feature allows "prep" cues to be generated so that fixtures will move into position before their intensities are turned up.
  • Pseudo-attributes - These allow fixtures such as LEDs with only red, green and blue control to have a simulated intensity attribute making controlling them simpler.
  • Control anything from shape generators - As well as creating movement shapes such as a circle or figure-of-8, you can control virtually any other attribute, including hue for fixtures that have colour mixing, allowing you to create a range of interesting effects.
  • Map anything to a submaster fader - You needn't just have intensity on a fader. You could fade between two positions or colours, or even control the speed and size of a movement shape.

All these features and many more make LimeLIGHT one of the most powerful software lighting controllers on the market. However, even amidst its many features LimeLIGHT is still incredibly simple to use, allowing you to start creating the look you want in no time at all.
