Following record attendance numbers at PLASA 08 in London this month, Robert Juliat is delighted to report that the show has confirmed still further the huge amount of interest that exists in the Victor 1800W HMI followspot and the multi-functional Le Cin'k spotlight. The Victor was launched at PLASA 07 and provides a light out put in excess of many 2500W follow spot light sources combined with the optical and ergonomic excellence associated with Robert Juliat, wrapped up in a compact, stylish unit. Le Cin'k meanwhile offers a choice of interchangeable lamp bases allowing options of 2500W tungsten, 5000W tungsten, 1200W discharge or 2500W discharge lamps - ensuring a single spotlight to undergo rapid transformations according to requirements. This is particularly useful to rental houses and multipurpose venues and studios. There has been a great deal of excitement and interest from major opera houses, theatres and rental houses in both of these products. In addition to these products, the fully automated version of the Lancelot 4000W HTI followspot modules, Noria and Chromix, were released at PLASA 08 and well received. NoriaTaking advantage of the Lancelot's superior optical qualities, Robert Juliat has instituted a fully automated gobo changer named the Noria. The Noria has the capacity to take up to 6 A size gobos, each of which can be removed quickly and easily as required. Each gobo is fully rotating with complete control over speed and direction. Each Noria wheel also rotates in either direction at any speed and all is controllable via DMX, with a manual alternative also available. The Lancelot can house up to 2 Noria at the same time slotting easily into the gate of the Lancelot, and with a switching capacity to identify the first unit from the second. By such a means, the Lancelot can offer a selection of up to 10 separate gobos (5 + open on each wheel). ChromixUnique in the follow spot world, the Lancelot offers a complete graduated colour-mixing system, Chromix, using high temperature theatre gel to ensure a full colour range which complements that other gel using luminaires within a rig. Chromix consists of a module with four blades each with a frame to hold any HT gel -colour, frost, colour temperature or filter. Built on the same mechanical and technological construction as the dimmer this ensures a progressive and smooth colour mix effect. Up to 5 modules can be used at one time, each of which are independently controllable to create precise effects and mixing of colour. Using carefully chosen CMY colours, it is possible to achieve smooth, progressive colour mixing, but the combination of any gel allows a variety of exciting and original mixing. Each blade is attached with a 1/4 turn screw ensuring easy changing or replacement of gel. In the event of power failure, a safety system allows manual control the Chromix, disengaging the motor and enabling manual operation from a handle located on the top on the spotlight. The Chromix and Noria connector provides both power and data. The data is read through the CAN-BUS system ensuring reliability and simplicity, whilst the DMX interface allows a choice of control options: from the console, from a Robert Juliat Espion DMX tester or directly from the follow spot. Both Noria and Chromix motorized modules offer easy "plug and play" ability also exists in manual version. Both products were launched at PLASA 08 in London and will be present on the LDI Booth of Robert Juliat America 1345. |
